At about 3 pm on Sunday at Lower Rads End, Elaine Edwards, aged seven, was involved in an accident with a car driven by Mr Diamond of Hermitage Road, Hitchin, and had both legs broken. Elaine is the daughter of Mr and Mrs Edwards of the “Pheasant” inn, and it was in front of her home that the accident happened. Dr Barnes arrived within a few mninutes. The girl was taken to hospital, where she was X-rayed. She is reported to be fairly comfortable.
